Start with the world, choose your character, find your first roleplay, and explore professions. A quick guide with direct links to race lore, practical player guides and the places to read next.

Welcome — your first steps

Welcome to Uros! You do not need to memorise the whole archive before joining a story. Use this page as your starting point, then follow the links that matter to your character.

  1. Read the essentials. Check the rules and guides and A Roleplay Introduction.
  2. Choose a character. Read your race’s lore below, then give your character a simple goal, a few strengths and a believable flaw.
  3. Start a conversation. Ask someone for directions, work or news. A small reason to approach another character is enough to begin.
  4. Build your everyday life. Explore professions, settlements and shops when you need them. You can return to this page as you go.

Quick route: roleplay basics → your race → professions → a place to call home.

The world in a minute

Athosia, also called the Old Lands, is suffering from the Fading: an unexplained deterioration of the land and natural world. People have crossed the sea seeking refuge in Umbria, with Alphos offering a place to establish new homes.

Geography of Uros explains Athosia, Umbria and the Great Expanse. The Fading explains the threat and the migration it has caused.

Player knowledge and character knowledge are different. Reading an article does not mean your character knows every detail. Let their background and experiences guide what they know; ask staff if you are unsure.

Choose your Culture — race and subrace lore

Start with the page for the Race you want to play. These introductions are signposts; the full articles provide the details for your background and roleplay.

  • Humans of Astrya — people from a varied ancestral High Kingdom, with many regional cultures.
  • Elfin of Elyiore — long-lived race whose culture is rooted in Elyiore and the Mother Tree.
  • Grokon of Dol’Barr — subterranean folk with traditions of stonecraft, forging, and memory walls.
  • Turuk of Magra — hardy folk of Magra, with a strong focus on their Clanz and contribution to the community.
  • The Elthari — woodland kin of the Elfin, shaped by life beneath Elyiore’s deep canopy.
  • The Merrinfolk — the quiet folk of Merrinvale.

Your first roleplay

Give other players something to respond to: ask a question, offer help or describe what your character is trying to do. A greeting at a shop can become your first story.

  • Keep outside knowledge outside the scene. Avoid metagaming: using information your character has not learned.
  • Leave room for a response. Describe an attempt rather than deciding another character’s actions or the outcome for them.
  • Let your character have limits. Flaws, mistakes and consequences make room for shared stories.
  • Talk things through. Clarify uncertainty out of character so everyone understands the scene.

Read A Roleplay Introduction for examples, emotes and chat features. Keep Time, Calendar & Seasons handy when dates and the passage of time matter.

Choose your professions

Read Professions first. You can choose one Primary and one Secondary profession through /professions. The overview explains selection, starting tools and progression.

Gathering and growing: Logging · Mining · Fishing · Farming & Animal Husbandry

Making and processing: Carpentry · Smithing · Cooking and Butchery · Tailoring

Before changing: abandoning a profession clears its levels and changes are available every 24 hours. Read that section before confirming a change.

For the wider selection, including Masonry and professions marked as coming soon, return to the Professions overview. Browse Basic Profession Guides for available guides.

Find a home, trade and keep learning

Looking for people and stories? Visit the forums for character profiles, guilds and businesses, and community information. If a rule, mechanic, or lore detail is unclear, ask staff before relying on an assumption.

You do not need to do everything on your first day. Choose one small goal: meet someone, learn a trade or find a place your character wants to return to.
