Scope
This policy applies to players who hold significant leadership over a recognised Uros nation, guild, settlement, organisation or similar community. It also applies to the OOC administration of spaces that are necessary for that group to function, including endorsed Discords.
Uros does not expect every leader to run their group in the same way. The purpose of this policy is to set minimum standards where a player's OOC control can materially affect other people's ability to take part.
IC authority and OOC responsibility
A king can exile a character through roleplay. That does not automatically justify banning the player from every OOC space connected to the nation. A guildmaster can remove a character from a guild. That does not give them permission to harass, threaten or silence the player behind that character.
Where an IC decision has an OOC effect, leaders should be able to explain the practical reason for that effect and should avoid using OOC tools as an extra layer of IC punishment.
Participation & access
Recognised communities are expected to provide a reasonable route for players to participate in the group's roleplay. Leadership can set membership requirements, remove disruptive members and protect private planning spaces, but access decisions must still comply with Uros rules and endorsed-community requirements.
Where exclusion from an OOC space effectively prevents a player from participating in a recognised community, Uros Administration may review the decision if there is a credible concern about retaliation, discrimination or misuse of authority.
Leadership conduct
- Do not use position, Discord ownership or community influence to pressure players into dropping legitimate reports or complaints.
- Do not present local community staff as Uros staff unless they actually hold an authorised Uros role.
- Do not use private information obtained through community administration to gain an in-character advantage.
- Keep significant OOC decisions about access or discipline separate from in-character punishments wherever possible.
Succession & ownership
Community infrastructure should not become unusable because one person leaves. Leaders are strongly encouraged to maintain at least one trusted backup administrator for important Discords and to hand over community-owned information or resources when leadership changes.
Uros will not normally force the transfer of a privately owned account. However, official recognition, endorsements, website links and in-game privileges belong to the recognised community relationship and may be reassigned or withdrawn when leadership changes.
Disputes within leadership
Political and leadership disputes are expected in roleplay. Uros will not decide ordinary IC succession arguments simply because one side is unhappy with the outcome. Staff may become involved where the dispute turns into OOC harassment, misuse of endorsed infrastructure, rule-breaking or a genuine ownership/access problem affecting the wider community.
Relationship with Uros staff
Community leaders are not an extension of the Uros staff team unless they separately hold a staff role. Uros may ask recognised leaders to preserve evidence, communicate an operational change or assist with a serious incident, but day-to-day leadership remains the community's responsibility.
Review of recognised leadership
Where leadership repeatedly misuses OOC control, refuses required cooperation or makes a recognised community unsafe or inaccessible, Administration may review Uros recognition, endorsements or associated privileges. This is separate from ordinary in-character removal from office and will be recorded as an administrative decision.
