How to perform actions?

Rod Fishing  is the easiest way to start below are the steps to make your first successful catch!

  1. Adding Bait The most important step, and so happens to be the first, is adding bait to your Fishing Rod, to achieve this hold your bait in the offhand and rod in main hand and left click
  2. Casting

Look at the body of water you tend to fish in and right click, you will now cast

  3. Catching Fish

Wait for a bite, when this happens you will be prompted with a pop up and the little minigame starts - to make a successful catch you will need to click in time with the prompts and as you progress you will see the top bar fill up

  4. Rewards

Reap your reward. Was it a trophy catch? All our fish have weights that affect how many fillets you can get from them when being prepared by the Cooking Profession. If the fish is to good to eat you can preserve the catch allow it to become a placeable object in the world for all to see

Net fishing  comes a little later, once you have acquired your first net follow the steps below!

  1. Setting up a netSimilar to Rod fishing you will need to lay bait in your net, but before you can do that you will have to dive down to the water floor and place your net
  2. Adding Bait Once your net is set up you can right-click it to open up the GUI and  add your chosen bait
  3. Don't forget your net

Unlike Rod Fishing, Nets are autonomous you can leave a set net and come back to it but be careful don't leave it to long as Bait can be washed away along with your net

  4. Not just fish

Its a good idea to check back on your net regularly to see if you have passively caught anything - Nets are a good way to catch crustaceans

FishingNetBasic NetA woven net used to catch multiple fish from shallow waters.

What to do with the resources?

Now you have your catches. The choice is yours with what you want to do with them; some may choose to keep their Trophy fish, but be careful about it rotting. You will need to preserve your Trophy catch to stop this, but for the small fry out there, the Cooking profession will make good use of them, creating fulfilling Fish dishes

Where do I get my tools?

Once your basic Fishing Rod has broken, you will rely on the professions of Carpentry and Fishing to craft the tools. Carpenters will be able to make the Flint Fishing Rod, but the Fishing profession produces Nets and the rest of the Tiered Fishing Rods - These still require ingredients from other professions, such as the Fishing Line being created by Tailoring or the metal hooks created by Smithing

Workstations

The Fishing Table allows the Angler to craft fishing Rods above Flint and Nets

What Grants Experience and Levels

To level up your Fishing, you will gain XP from catching fish and collecting items from Nets, with each level reducing the number of times you have to click to reel in the fish. You will also gain a perk every time you reach a milestone tier (Novice ->Initiate)
