Personality TraitsLucian is a generally calm and personable young man you prefers to fully understand a situation before doing something. He is curious about the world beyond the lands of his family, and has a tendency to ask questions that others might deem unnecessary. Despite his position, he does not particularly enjoy treating smallfolk as lesser people, and is more comfortable speaking with honesty, rather than maintaining the formalities of the nobility. He is confident in his own abilities, though sometimes more confident that he has earned to be, and can become stubborn when he believes he is being dismissed or underestimated. Lucian has a strong sense of loyalty towards those who are his friends and family, but that loyalty oftens clouds his judgement. He is not afraid of violence, as sometimes it is nesessary, but he dislikes it where it is not needed, or cruel.
Backstory
Lucian Narvian was born into House Narvian as one of the younger children of the family. From an early age, he was raised with the expectations placed upon a nobleman: he was taught the history of his family, the customs of the court, horsemanship, basic martial skills, and the responsibilities that came with carrying the Narvian name. His upbringing was comfortable, but it was never entirely sheltered. His parents made certain that Lucian understood that nobility was not merely a collection of titles and privileges, but an obligation to the people who lived under their family's protection. Much of his childhood was spent alongside his siblings and other young nobles, where he developed a competitive streak that occasionally got him into trouble. He was never particularly interested in becoming the perfect courtier, however, and often found himself more interested in hearing stories from travelers, soldiers, and merchants than listening to the lessons of his tutors.
As he grew older, Lucian began to understand the weight that came with carrying the Narvian name. The lessons of his childhood became less about simply learning the traditions of nobility and more about understanding the responsibilities that came with them. He spent increasing amounts of time among the household knights and retainers, learning the realities of life beyond the noble halls. Though he was never the most disciplined student, Lucian developed a genuine respect for those who served House Narvian, and he found himself particularly drawn to the stories of soldiers and travelers who had seen more of the world than he had. These experiences slowly shaped his desire to experience life for himself rather than simply hearing about it from others.
Despite his upbringing, Lucian remains largely untested. He carries a respected name, but he has yet to accomplish anything significant enough to make that name truly his own. He understands that the reputation of House Narvian was built by those who came before him, and he does not want to spend his life merely benefiting from their accomplishments.
