Character Details

Full Character NameConstantine Thalassar
RaceHuman
GenderMale
Age35
Personality TraitsConstantine is a sturdy, weathered man bearing the characteristic features of House Thalassar. His chestnut brown hair is often roughened and lightened by years spent at sea, while his stormy blue eyes give him an intense and observant appearance. His most notable feature is the loss of his left eye, a lasting injury sustained during a battle with pirates. He maintains the hardened physique of a seasoned sailor and warrior, carrying himself with the confidence expected of an experienced sea lord and corsair.

Constantine is gruff and straightforward, though his natural charisma often softens his harsher manner. He is a free-spirited man who values independence, adventure, and the freedom of the open sea. His personality is defined by a notable duality: he can be generous and protective toward those he considers his own, yet cold and callous toward those who cross him. He is an experienced commander and capable strategist, possessing the patience to wait for the right opportunity before acting. Above all, Constantine embodies the traditional Thalassari temperament: fiercely independent, adaptable, and never afraid to venture beyond familiar waters.
Backstory
Constantine was born thirty-five years ago to Leonatus Thalassar and Joan de Vaulmar, raised among a family whose identity was inseparable from the sea. His childhood was spent learning the skills expected of a Thalassari, from sailing and navigation to trade, seamanship, and the handling of a blade. More than anything, he developed a deep attachment to his kin and to the waters that had carried his ancestors before him. The ships he grew up upon became places of comfort and freedom, while the stories of those who came before him instilled a desire to one day leave a legacy worthy of the Thalassar name.

As he came of age, Constantine embraced the life of a corsair with little hesitation. He learned that the sea offered more than adventure, becoming a place where fortunes could be made through trade, exploration, and, when opportunity demanded it, the taking of another man's cargo. He developed a reputation as a capable and daring captain, equally willing to bargain with a merchant as he was to board an enemy vessel. His greatest trial came during an engagement with pirates, where he lost one of his eyes in the fighting. The injury did little to temper his appetite for the sea. Instead, his precise and ruthless fighting style earned him the name “The Sea Wolf.”

With age, Constantine's ambitions grew beyond personal glory. His greatest concern became the future of his family and the legacy that he would leave behind. Every voyage, trade route, alliance, and prize became another stone laid toward that legacy. He remains fiercely attached to his kin, regarding their fortunes and safety as his own, while his love for the sea continues to shape nearly every aspect of his life. To Constantine, the Thalassar name is not something merely inherited. It is something to be strengthened, expanded, and carried farther than any generation before him.
